MEATliquor - Leeds

Recently I visited a place called MEATliquor in Leeds. Being called 'Meat Liquor' I expected a lot more meat on the menu. In reality this is a burger bar, and yes, there is plenty of liquor.

The restaurant is in a basement and has a strong vibe to it. On this occasion I was eating alone but was made to feel welcome by the waiter and received great service.

On the food front I went for a Bacon Cheeseburger (£8.75) with a side of fries (£3.25).

As you can see from my picture below, the burger was a bit of a mess and difficult to pick up. It would have been lovely to pick it up and take one big bite, but it was just not possible. Nevertheless the content of the burger was tasty. A moist patty, bacon, strong cheese, crunchy pickles and leaves with a tangy mustard.

Overall I enjoyed my meal at MEATliquor and would visit again. The 'Chicken Parma Burger' is definitely calling my name!

Wagamama - Pad Thai

Pad Thai is one of my favourite dishes so when I saw it on the menu at Wagamama's I had to go for it. I'm not a fan of prawns so swapped that with chicken at no extra cost.

Wow. This was really flavoursome, full of fresh, exciting tastes.

Followed up with a couple of cups of complimentary green tea I left suitable impressed.

Itsu - Chargrilled Chicken Udon

The Chargrilled Chicken Udon from Itsu was a warm, hearty lunch, full of tasty vegetables.

With the chargrilled chicken and udon noodles there was cabbage, kale, spinach, beansprouts, petit pois, leek, red pepper, coriander and ginger all in a chicken broth.

A big variety of veg, but it doesn't feel like too much. One thing for me though, there was an overpowering taste of ginger towards the bottom of the bowl that hung around in my mouth for quite a while afterwards.

I will definitely be visiting Itsu again. The menu is full of tempting dishes and sides just asking to be ordered.

Five Guys - First Experience

Five Guys is an American fast food restaurant which focuses on burgers, hot dogs and fries.

I had my first experience of Five Guys last weekend in Sheffield. On the whole it was an enjoyable experience and I'd definitely come again.

What did I order?

Bacon Double Cheeseburger. There's a choice of 15 different toppings and I went with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, peppers and BBQ sauce.

On the side I had fries, and a little cajun spice in a tub to try out. I'd say the large fries is enough to share between 3 - 4 people.

Verdict

My tasty burger came wrapped in foil and freshly cooked. The beef patties were nice and moist, cheese melting away and the peppers added a welcome crunchy contrast.

I would say the bacon didn't add a lot to this burger and was lost a little. I imagine it would suit the single cheeseburger better.

The fries were fluffy inside, crisp outside and the Cajun spice wasn't overpowering.

Overall I left the restaurant impressed following my first time at Five Guys. A filling meal that didn't disappoint.
